REGISTRATION IS OPEN YEAR ROUND. NEW SLOTS WILL BE ADDED ON THE FOLLOWING DATES FOR YOU TO PREVIEW AND PREPARE FOR REGISTRATION:

9/4, 9/27, 10/31, 12/10, 1/23, 2/28, 4/3



You are registering for 7, one-hour and 40-minute sessions (after school) or 8, one-hour and 30-minute sessions (during school) of Behind-the-Wheel instruction to test students' driving abilities.

Behind-the-Wheel instruction is a supplemental program that determines if a student is ready to drive on their own.  It is NOT a substitute for the 45 hours of parent/guardian instruction that all drivers with a permit must receive before obtaining a license. Payment is due at the time of registration.  

Students must have COMPLETED the following to participate in the course:

1. Possession of a DEC-1 card


2. Possession of a valid Virginia Learner's Permit


3. Completion of at least 20 hours of driving with a licensed adult driver on the road (A total of 45 hours must be completed before a student may apply for a driver's license).

Registration is non-refundable once the student has begun their lessons.

Note students who are CURRENTLY enrolled in HPE II (whether in school or online) MAY NOT register for Behind the Wheel or any waitlist until they have completed the class as stated above.  We will not “hold” your registration or payment until the class is complete.



WAITLISTS ARE AVAILABLE. PLACEMENT ON A WAITLIST DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A SPOT NOR DOES IT GIVE YOU PRECENDENT WHEN NEW SPOTS ARE OPENED. THE WAITLIST IS USED SOLELY TO FILL VACANCIES WHEN NOT ENOUGH STUDENTS REGISTER OR IF NEW INSTRUCTORS ARE HIRED. ALL REMAINING WAITLIST REGISTRANTS ARE DELETED AT THE END OF EACH REGISTRATION PERIOD.
