You are registering for 7 one-hour and 40-minute(after school) or 8 one-hour and 30-minute (during school) consecutive sessions of Behind-the-Wheel instruction to test a student's driving abilities.

Behind-the-Wheel instruction is a supplemental program that determines if a student is ready to drive on their own.  It is NOT a substitute for the 45 hours of parent/guardian instruction that all drivers with a permit must receive before obtaining a license. Payment is due at the time of registration.  

Students must have COMPLETED the following to participate in the course:

1. Possession of a DEC-1 card


2. Possession of a valid Virginia Learner's Permit


3. Completion of at least 20 hours of driving with a licensed adult driver on the road (A total of 45 hours must be completed before a student may apply for a driver's license).

Registration is non-refundable once the student has begun their lessons. Students may only register for the school at which they are enrolled. (Except FC Academy students; read the registration page for Cox/FC when available for details).

Note: Students who are CURRENTLY enrolled in HPE II (whether in school or online) MAY NOT register for Behind the Wheel or any waitlist until they have completed the requirements as stated above. Registering your student before they have received a DEC-1 card will result in your registration being cancelled and a cancellation fee charged.



WAITLISTS ARE AVAILABLE. PLACEMENT ON A WAITLIST DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A SPOT. THE WAITLIST IS USED SOLELY TO FILL VACANCIES WHEN NOT ENOUGH STUDENTS REGISTER OR IF NEW INSTRUCTORS ARE HIRED.
